Step 2: Right-click "jaconfig.cfg" and press "Properties." At the bottom of the window that pops up, make sure "Read-Only" is unchecked. Step 1: Navigate to Jedi Academy's "\base" folder, found under "Jedi Academy\GameData\base." If you're on Steam the file path will be "Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Academy\GameData\base." While you're at the main menu, make sure "Model Dismemberment" in the "Options" section of Settings is enabled, then exit out of the game. Prerequisite Step: If you just installed Jedi Academy for the first time, start it up at least once and get to the main menu, so the game generates the config file. Simply follow the steps below and never worry about it again. So, as advertised, the following method will enable dismemberment to work flawlessly without the need to open the console and will work with new games and old saves, with no need to enable it at the start of every level. I thought I'd post this as a resource for everyone, with my hope being that this guide will become the be-all-end-all to any other guide out there.
Steam jedi academy mods not how to#
There still seems to be a lot of speculation on how to do this properly, so I decided to dig through my old files and share my method with you all. I just recently reinstalled Jedi Outcast and began browsing this subreddit for news/new mods and I saw posts that, after all these years, were still asking how to enable dismemberment in Jedi Academy.
After doing a lot of digging & research, I actually got it to work seamlessly about two years ago, but neglected to post it because I simply just didn't think to do so, so I apologize for that. I tried every guide out there, and none of them are successful or repeatable. So, like many of you, I was disappointed that dismemberment didn't work quite like it did in Jedi Outcast.
